The Art of Narrative

“I invent nothing, I rediscover.” -Auguste Rodin

Ever noticed that concepts can be painted by 2 different artists and turn out so differently? They can even have the same motif, the same subject, and the same background, and yet there is something different that you just can't put into words.

That word on the tip of your tongue 👅 is...

🥁 (drum roll please) 🥁

NARRATIVE! 🎉

The lighting, the colors, the brushstrokes, everything comes together to form the narrative you are trying to convey to the viewer. For instance, warm colors can give the impression of happiness or anger; cool colors can convey sadness or peace.

There are an array of small differences that can change the narrative of your painting entirely. It is all in what you choose and how you use them.

Hand-painted in Adobe Photoshop CC using the Wacom Intuos Pro and the Wacom Art Pen.
