Summer Lovin'

“Nature is not only all that is visible to the eye.. it also includes the inner pictures of the soul.” -Edvard Munch

Let's talk more about my artistic love affair with the fall and winter months. And let me preface this by saying, you do NOT have to do as I do, but I think you'll find taking breaks from time to time is revitalizing.

Spring and summer are when I am pumped up to get outside and enjoy the weather, so I tend to paint less during those months. Not only is it warmer, but it is like everything is waking from a slumber after the winter. There is so much buzzing in the breeze that I just can't focus in the studio.

So, what was my fix?

Get OUT of the studio!

I know. You think I'm crazy, but I am still painting. Just not nearly as much as I do in the fall and winter.

You see, it's like the whole world goes into hibernation, and just like a momma putting her baby down for a nap, the distractions dissipate.

Why sit in the studio frustrated that I am getting nothing done when I can paint when it is yucky and when it isn't go enjoy the spring and summertime hustle and bustle?

Think about it.

You may just start your own artistic love affair with the seasons that fit you!
