Being married to and living the "blue-collar lifestyle" is something that I actually take a bit of pride in. There is a lot to be said for the men and women that get up and go to work, day-in and day-out, to do the jobs that usually "make the world go round" whether they feel like it or not.
Now, I know getting up and going to work whether you feel like it or not can apply to every profession, and it is usually the individual that changes that sentiment rather than the job. But did you know it applies just as much to artists as it does any other "traditional" career?
Artists don't just work when we have a flash of inspiration.
In fact, most of the work is put in WITHOUT any inspiration at all. It's the day-in and day-out struggle with managing a business, marketing, fine-tuning skills, completing commissions, and all of the other things that go on with being (typically) self-employed.
If you look into the lives of people deemed "stars" in their field, you will find this "show up regardless" mentality. It's not about being perfect. It's not having innate talent. It's showing up when it's hard, when you don't feel like it, and when everything seems to be pulling you in a different direction.
