Rufus loves to take the worst or busiest times in your life and use them against you, especially if you try to paint through them. And the dialogue often starts like this...
"Should you be working on this when (insert other tasks) needs to get done?"
"Aren't you ashamed of yourself for finding enjoyment when you're supposed to be hurting (or working)?"
Getting married, having kids, working on the farm...I get it. It's effective, but Rufus wants to keep you running around and in the darkest of places so that you see no light at the end of the tunnel.
But you know what? We aren't made to be working 24/7. In fact, our productivity and achievements increase when we take time to step away from all of the chaos for a while. It resets our brains, gives us a new perspective, restores our energy, and redirects our tenacity to get the job done.
Rufus certainly doesn't want you to know this and especially doesn't want you to use this tactic to your benefit. But when you don't ever see the light at the end of the tunnel, you reach the point that you don't care if the light is a train heading straight for you.
Your body, mind, and spirit get so bogged down with responsibilities and tasks that life just doesn't seem all that "fun" anymore. So, regardless of whether you were already in a dark time, the darkness will surround you, and Rufus gets excited as you grow blind to the light.
Stop him in his tracks. Take the time to do something you enjoy, even if you don't feel like doing it.
What Rufus doesn't understand, is that people who choose to fight for themselves are a force to be reckoned with, and he holds no power or sway on their trajectory in life.
