Because Rufus is also acting like he is your "friend," but he is just being an echo chamber. Reverberating the justifications for your negative feelings that he planted in your mind to begin with. It's a loop that keeps your feathers ruffled and your nerves frayed. You'll find yourself stuck in a rut in the studio or not even wanting to enter the door. And your life outside the studio? Goodness...does Rufus aim to make a mess anyway he can.
The frustration, the overwhelm, the disconnection, and everything else that comes as a consequence of the negativity will start to eat you alive. Feathers are meant to help shield the delicate skin underneath. Don't let Rufus make gaps in your defense.
Tell him to buzz off and keep his hands out of your feathers. They don't need to be ruffled. You're working on preening your feathers to become the best you can be. No time for his messes or his planted negativity.
