Rufus LOVES to dump a sensory overload into your lap and leave you with the fallout. And the kicker? It's a pattern that becomes addicting.
Everything is on...ALL THE TIME.
"Ding." Phone notification. "(Insert name here)!" Someone calling you. "Ping." Incoming text. "We now turn it over to..." TV/Radio/Podcast playing in the background. "Woof, woof." Dog barking. The list goes on and on.
Then, it gets layered with the to-do list. Time to milk. Time to make breakfast. Need to do reviews. Did the dishwasher get loaded? Oh, these dishes need to be hand washed. The dog needs to go out. I forgot to move the towels over. What is that smell? Ugh, the dog got in the trash...AGAIN! Need to clean this up. Oh, need to restock the floor cleaner. Wait...did I move the towels? Ah, look at the time! I need to get back in the studio!
The list grows even further as you "take a break" and check your phone. Oh, so-and-so is getting married! They put what in the water? So-and-so is having a baby! Oh look, another new scam. I've not seen anything from so-and-so in a while. I hope they're alright. Wait, what is happening to gas prices?
By the time you finish your "break," you are probably feeling a mix of emotions rather than feeling even an ounce better from before, and it just leaves you churning as you rush back into productivity mode.
This break neck pace and constant barrage of sensory inputs will leave you feeling overwhelmed far beyond what your brain ever wanted to handle. Yet, it's almost addicting...we get into the pattern and keep doing it over and over, day-in and day-out until finally we are ready to throw in the towel.
Rufus is there, encouraging it...egging us on and pushing us toward the cliff, ready to see our downfall.

It's such an easy pattern to fall into,...
...and it will just leave you overworked, overstimulated, and over tired without much to show for it. Recognize when you're starting to spiral. Take a real break. Better yet, make a MANAGEABLE plan (not overbooking yourself to oblivion), and stick to it! Don't let Rufus convince you that you need to fit 15 more things into your day that only has time for a handful.
Your well-being matters. Your time is precious. Your brain desperately needs relief.
