Rufus is a Confidence Thief

Rufus is the snooty, know it all, art critic that lives inside the mind of every artist.

Learning something new can be a daunting task. It takes several baby steps of progress before you truly feel like you are getting anywhere, and Rufus LOVES to take advantage of this!

In the thick of the struggle, his goal is to be lurking over your shoulder and whispering in your ear self-depreciating statements.

"You're not good enough."

"You don't have the skills."

And the issue is, when you are learning something new, he might not be wrong❕

So, he tears apart our confidence in ourselves as artists IF, and this is a big if, IF we let him.

You see, his snide comments are the whole reason you're trying anyway. So yes, you might not have the proper tools in your belt YET.

Notice that key word there? YET.

Add "yet" to almost any statement Rufus is maliciously whispering in your ear, and I can almost guarantee it turns it from a tear down to a build up. 😏

It will drive him CRAZY! You're using his own words against him.

So, don't be afraid to share where you're at in your struggle learning a new skill and get some constructive critique. Rufus might have you convinced that everyone thinks you're incompetent, but the art community isn't here to tear you down.

Au contraire! πŸ‘©‍🎨

Community is a continuous opportunity to make movement through unified Involvement in today's yoke. What's that mean? It means you don't have to bear your burdens alone.

We are in this together! πŸ’ͺ

Rufus wants to steal any and all confidence you have so you are ashamed to participate in something he has no chance of overcoming.

Don't let him win! Use the power of YET and rely on the strength of your community. πŸ€—
