Like Only an Artist Can

“The object of art is not to reproduce reality, but to create a reality of the same intensity.” -Alberto Giacometti

Have you ever been somewhere just absolutely BEAUTIFUL? Can you close your eyes and repicture the scene? Can you feel the warmth on your skin or a cool mist brushing across your face?

We have the capacity to vividly remember and even relive portions of experiences, but what if we've never been there or experienced it before? That is where art comes in...

It is the goal of the artist to create the same scene but in a new form. You see, rather than having the luxury of a viewer's specific memory, an artist must evoke more generalized experiences that have plausibly occurred across all potential viewers.

It is through the combination of multiple generalized sensory experiences in a viewer's memory that a painting is able to come to life. Paintings utilize the sense of sight to induce a comprehensive sensory connection between themselves and the viewer.

So when you paint, realize the power that each brushstroke has the potential of wielding and share your experiences as only an artist can.

Hand-painted in Adobe Photoshop CC using the Wacom Intuos Pro and the Wacom Art Pen.
