If You Wait 'Til You're Perfect...

Some people have the idea that really great art is “perfect”.

Art is made by humans. To err is human. Ergo - even the best art isn’t perfect.

If the very best art has flaws — so will yours.

Imperfection is not only a commonality shared by all artists, it could even be surmised that it is an essential element.

Ansel Adams is often quoted as saying, “the perfect is the enemy of the good.” I believe his point was that if he waited for everything in the frame to be perfect, he would never capture the frame.

In the same way, if you wait until your technique is perfect, you’ll never create art.
