Borrow Confidence

Girl in hat
"If you hear a voice within you say ‘you cannot paint,’ then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced." -Vincent Van Gogh

Having confidence is hard no matter where you are in the creative process, so sometimes you have to "borrow" it.

Now, I know what you're thinking, "Borrow it? What on earth? This woman has lost her mind."

Well, you wouldn't be entirely wrong there. ðŸĪŠ But silliness aside, borrowing confidence is a legitimate concept. Have you ever talked to a friend before a big event or project (or even during) and felt more at peace?

Your heart may still be racing under the surface, but their confidence in you has steadied your mind enough that you exhibit yourself as more confident than you feel! Now, instead of your emotions potentially getting out of control and actually working against you, they are working for you!

When we don't let out emotions get the best of us, that heart racing? Increased blood flow to the brain. That sweating? Improved ventilation/cooling. That shakiness? A buzz of energy beneath the surface.

So, instead of thinking about all of those physiological events as negative, see them as your body rising to the occasion. Borrow that confidence, and steady your mind! You'll be better off for it.
